DINNER ETIQUETTE // A Cup of Jo

good morning victoria june,

i happened to stumble across a sensational blog by A CUP OF JO that i think i have to share with you - since you are the queen of dinner parties after all.

HERE WE GO //

the order for setting the table always confuses me! below is the correct order... think of BMW - bread, meal, water/wine. this will stop me from using the wrong bread plate again!

a guest should wait until the host takes their first bite...

always taste before seasoning - you may offend your host by assuming it needs the extra flavour!
once your utensils have been picked up for use, they shouldn't touch the table again...
loosely fold your napkin & place on the table if excusing yourself to head to the bathroom...
when finished, place your fork & knife together and place it at 11 to 5 (imagining the plate as a clock face)...

now you're up to speed, go & throw your most glorious dinner party yet!

MILK & HONEY // Hamilton

 happy pre-easter thursday my love!

last week i found myself in Hamilton for work and you're probably shocked to find that i had an amazing two days in the city that often cops a bad wrap. i was amazed by the choice of cafes & restaurants, the stunning weather and was lucky enough to be there during the balloon festival - it was magic!

i also got the chance to catch up with a long lost friend, who took me to a fab rooftop cafe, found on level 4 of the Talking Tech building at 149 Alexandra St.
i LOVED everything about it!
it felt like we were breaking into a secret world, as we rode the lift up to the top floor of the building. i was immediately in love with the exquisite interior design, murals on the walls and friendliness of the staff.
what amazed me the most was that payment for all food & coffee was on koha (for those of you not from nz, a koha is a Maori custom that can be translated as gift or donation), so nothing had a set price - you paid what you thought it was worth. the cafe was set up to raise awareness of the TALKINGtech foundation and all koha taken for food & drink goes directly towards the cause. pretty cool, huh?
i had a hot chocolate & a delicious mustard seed & caper scone, which i helped myself to from the table of treats. for the record: best hot chocolate ever.

the cafe has a beautiful view over the city which is complimented by great coffee & delightful staff. if you EVER find yourself in Hamilton, i would highly recommend checking Milk & Honey out.

love from,
the Hamilton lover
